Inquiry Blog

It is not possible to ignore the numerous individuals overseas or foreigners who starve their bodies of nutrition to maintain a functional village for their community. Volunteerism, a widely used term and one that Webster’s Dictionary defines as the use or involvement of volunteer labor to aid one’s area or region. Volunteers see this outreach project as temporary, when ultimately, the importance of this task never ends. UNV, a volunteer outreach program assembled in 1970 has begun offering their time, support and love to nearly 140 countries surrounding the United States. Although this denomination is optional, the benefit of strengthening trust throughout our world out weights the cost of labor and other expenses. Volunteering can be found through a great deal of scenarios, it’s not the task that intrigues myself and others, but the reasoning behind the option that will continue to build one’s character.

Luckily, I have had a great blessing to help individuals who suffer with homelessness or battle with financial predicaments near and around my hometown. Serving my helping hand inside local community shelters, Make a Wish Foundation and Operation Christmas Child all are great organizations that have given myself a reason to question the purpose on this issue at a global level. Not everyone has the capability or reason to grant their appreciation to those of the less fortunate. For myself, giving back is what drives my existence to be interested in such a powerful process. There is not nearly enough opinion to answer what I know about this topic other than the warmth of affection you receive after seeing the smiles and gratitude of those you aid. Throughout the UNCC resource database and several reliable documents online, I feel confident to explore this issue in great depth and question.

Being that I have had no experience conducting an inquiry project, it was difficult to begin searching for a topic of issues I could question for such an extended period of time. However, once I used the possible resource based websites located on our class Moodle page, volunteerism opened the opportunity that I feel most confident with. Using the in class debate as helpful guidelines, volunteerism can be uncovered at the similar level. Is this an issue held specifically for one gender in general? How many individuals are cured or assisted during a year’s period? Does this helpful process help elevate your chances of obtaining a successful career? Should volunteerism be credited in income?

It’s a shame that many people avoid the chance to assist others either within the community or on a national level. Even though it is based on personal decision, it’s worth the chance to try. Volunteering is itself blunt in a way of explaining the determining factor of why, but the result has more to offer than buying yourself an item or subject that enhances appreciation.

What happens when you may struggle with poverty, disease or homelessness? Does it take those situations to open an individual’s eyes to the true importance and reasoning of volunteering? Why is this opportunity not abused in a way that continues to elevate our nation as a whole? However, this is our world, how should your participation be remembered?
